Memorial 2009

Memorial weekend was another great one spent at Honholz! The weather was really great, only rained about an hour while we were up at camp, and then a few times while we were sleeping. I love getting away for these trips. Gives me a chance to really relax and leave work behind!! There is no doubt Scott counts the minutes until he can be in the mountains and Tanner obviously loves it as well! Here is the dirty mutt!!

Ready for his picture, but I clicked the camera one second too late!!! Awww, shucks!! Dad and one of his fish...I have found a new love of the mountains! I have always enjoyed fishing, hiking, 4-wheeling, and camping, but after finding my first moose shed last year I have added that to my list! I was able to find another moose shed this year (quite a bit larger than the one last year) and a deer shed!! These are helping the feel of our country living room!!Scott is still trying to help me improve my aim and comfort level around the guns. I'm not sure it's working, but I try!Jennette couldn't make it up this weekend with us, but Ernest was able to make the trip as well as our neighbor Mark. With only two four-wheelers between the four of us (dad wants his own before he starts coming on these trips with us), Ernest and Mark had to share. Not sure how happy Ernest was about this! :) Here we are overlooking Honholz Lakes #2 and #3. I love it up there!!!On one of our 4-wheeling trips we found an area that had been hit with a grassfire. Made for some cool looking trees.Overall, another great trip to Honholz! Now the countdown is on to our Alaska trip!! We can't wait!!!

SO Happy!!

Well it's almost been one year since I spent a few days in the hospital and diagnosed with TM! I had my one year follow up neurology exam and MRI last week and the results were great! My MRI showed my spine is showing normal recovery and my brain scan was clear (insert blonde joke here)!! Basically my neuro is very positive that everything will continue to get better, and I'm off the hook for a year! I am hoping this gives me a little peace of mind, although I know a risk is still there, this makes me feel much more confident!!

Happy Birthday Old Man!!!

I am so amazingly lucky to have the parents I do. Two people who have supported us all the way and today one of them turns 60!!! Dad is officially the big 6-0! He is an amazing man that has been far more than a father to me. He has been my friend, teacher, dance partner, camping buddy, bully (yes, he teases! relentlessly!), sounding board and so much more. I'm so lucky to have him and so excited to celebrate this milestone with him!!

Through the years he has given me and taught me so many valuable lessons. School was always very important to him. He made sure to support us all the way through our college graduations. He also taught me to have fun and enjoy the outdoors any chance I can (I'm the closest to a little boy he got, and I will forever share our love of dirt!). The importance of laughing and laughing at yourself! He showed us the importance of family and love. And one of his lessons for family came in the most meaningful ways I have ever experienced. We were down in T or C, New Mexico visiting my Grandma Carol as she was battling brain cancer. For as long as I could remember my dad always had a mustache and Grandma always wanted to see him without it. That night, dad went into the bathroom and slowly shaved the entire thing. I remembered how funny he looked for so long. I alway used to think he looked like a goose as I couldn't remember a time with my dad's "naked" lip and that lip looked so HUGE! But more important than that was how happy he made my Grandma. To this day, he still has his "naked" lip.

Sometimes his lessons weren't so obvious or moving, but they were always there. I am so very lucky to have my dad, and I will always be my daddy's little girl! Happy Birthday Dad! Here's to the next 60!!

Honholz, WyColo Trip

A few weekends ago Scott decided he couldn't wait any longer to get out fishing for the first time this year. He made reservations at the WyColo lodge right by where my Grandma Carol and Grandpa Milt had a cabin for a while. We checked in and headed straight for the lake! And it was beautiful, I couldn't believe that for being the last weekend in April it was that nice! Tanner of course had a blast and was happy to be back in the water...

... and trying to help fish. Although he doesn't realize he is far from help. And unfortunately he gets a little nutty and has to be tied out once we start catching fish!! But he still loves it!
Scott always proves to be a small town man at heart. This cow got a little too close to us and Scott couldn't resist the chance to try and ride the cow......The cow wasn't too sure at first, but it only took him a minute to figure out he wasn't playing!
Jennette and I decided we may have to do "cabin camping" more often, and we think the dogs agreed, although we weren't too sure about the cabin!
It was tight quarters, but it was a really good time!! And even though it was gorgeous earlier in the day, we ended the day with about six inches of snow!!! The guys took advantage of the snow by having a late night snowball fight. Scott even hid outside the bathroom door in order to ambush dad! Good thing he's such a good sport!And of course Tanner was happy to get a little cuddling in with Sage. He sure does love that girl! :-)
Before leaving I had to snap a picture of our cabin. Pretty rustic, and we still aren't sure what the caution tape would have meant, but it looks like it was attached to both trees over the front door. May be a goood thing we never know!
We definitely had a fun last minute trip! Now it's time for the real camping!! Not sure how ready I am yet!!!

Florida trip and catch up!!

A few weeks ago I was invited to meet my friend and old roommate (from Freshman year in college), Kendall, down in Cabo. All I would pay for was my flight and then the room would be free as we would be staying with her Aunt's timeshare. Unfortunately we were close to the cutoff when the swine flu was just setting panic into everyone and Kendalls' Aunt was advised not to travel to Mexico due to some health concerns. So last minute we all booked a trip to Key Largo, Florida. We had a great time relaxing on the beach, driving the lenth of the Keys, snorkeling, and just having a good time. It was good to get away and I considered it my celebration trip, 1 year neuro appointment was a positive one!! :-) Now MRI in a week (and my fingers are crossed for it to be lesion free), wonder where I shall go after that...Antiga, Hawaii, hmmmm...(ha ha!)

Anyway due to our change in plans we brought our traveling swine!! As this became our swine flu vacation!! Here he is in the Charlotte airport!
Here is a picture I took specifically for Scott. Who would have thought to make a glass bottle look like a gun!! This is Kendall and I on our hotels beach on our first night and first sunset!! We went to dinner this first night at a place called Snapper's and I had the best Yellowtail!! Yum!! We also fed some of the Tarpon that hang out at their dock!! They were huge!!

We also took an ECO tour from our hotel. We went into the Everglades national park and saw a lot of great wildlife. Including a dolphin, horseshoe crab, dwarf seahorses, and a spanish dancer (shell-less crab). This first pic is of a Mangrove forest in the park.

One of the beautiful sunsets! Our beach was so calm you never had to deal with waves, which meant you could easily pull your lawnchair right out into the ocean to relax!!

We drove down the keys from our hotel and went all the way to Key West where I stood at the Southernmost point in the US!! How fun! We also stopped at a beach along the way which happens to be the only natural beach in the keys called Anne's beach. We walked out in this water and it was like walking in bath water, unbelieveably warm!!

Our last night we went to dinner at Isla Muerada's Fish Company, it was a beautiful restaurant all outdoors. I had to show Scott that I ate at the original as we have one at his favorite place to shop in Denver, Bass Pro Shops!

We also went snorkeling in one of the most beautiful reefs I have ever seen (which isn't many), but we saw some amazing things! Brain coral, fans, and the fish were so colorful. Truly amazing to see what this world has!!

Before leaving for Florida I had a few other fun days!! One was opening day for the Rockies with friends!! It's always so great to see my girlfriends, even better if it means a half day off of work!! And sun!!

One of my closest friends also just introduced her little miracle into the world!! Kaden Forsha was born April 4th! I know he has had some tough days, but he sure is handsome!!
