Rocky start...

I haven't posted for a few weeks, because I was trying really hard not to post any negativitiy, but I have definitely been tested the first few weeks of 2009. I am starting to turn a corner now and know that things will get better and they could have been so much worse!!

To start Robin's dog, Georgia, got really sick the last few days of '08 and first day's of '09. They did everything they could for her including taking her home with an IV to treat her with liquids and antibiotics, but in the end they had to let her go. It was the right thing to do, but we will all miss her very much! She was the sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever known, even when some people thought she looked a little scary! You could feed Georgia anything and she would take it with the softest care, she would get "happy tail" all the time from wagging her tail too hard and hitting it into walls, furniture, anything. She loved camping, but she also loved sneaking into Dad's tent before everyone else went to bed, she loved everyone she met, and was Cole's best buddy for the short time she knew him!! We will miss her, but I know we all feel so lucky that they had her, and she was a part of our family! Rest in peace sweet girl...
Other than that the only other major thing to happen was my accident. Last Monday it snowed, a lot more than expected. I was only about 5 miles from my house on Highway 2 (a small two lane highway) when a truck traveling the opposite direction as me started to swerve and crossed the center line into my lane. I had enough time to realize he was going to hit me and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I remember the initial impact, and then remember kind of coming too (although I don't believe I was knocked out) and seeing his car across the road. It wasn't until after Scott got there to pick me up that I realized how bad it had been. I was hit essentially head on, but as he was sliding he continued to spin and barrel rolled off of me, hitting my tail end in the process. It's so strange to think I don't remember the airbag going off, being hit with the air bag, being hit in the back, but I think it is my mind and bodies way of protecting me. It seemed like forever before someone stopped to see if I was ok. I wasn't really sure and he didn't want me getting out of the car as I was still sitting in traffic. The guy who hit me was out of his car and on the phone, but once the guy who stopped went to talked to him he realized no one had called for help. I called for help and the fireman had to pull my door open as the side panel had pushed into the door, and I had to be checked out on the ambulance. I walked away from it. I had bruises where the seat belt got me, a little whip last, and a sore face, but I had walked away. I'm not sure I would have been in another car without as many safety features. I feel very lucky for that. I am definitely sad that my brand new car was totaled, but I know the outcome could have been much worse. And now we are just working through the insurance issues, but thankfully because it wasn't my fault I will get a new car with no insurance premiums going up! And again, I am ok...but I hope to never have to go through that again...

So I am hoping the rest of 2009 will be a little nicer to me, although I am really thankful that it wasn't worse. And I always have to remember there are people out there dealing with much tougher stuff. As a great friend once said all you need in life is love, family, and health. I am very lucky to have all three!!! I'm also going to say I'm lucky to have my friends, they have kept me grounded and reminded me every day that life sometimes throws us curveballs, but it's the strong who survive! So thank you to my friends for the support and love they have shown!! My flowers are a reminder of the love I have surrounded myself with!
