Spring in Colorado!

So things have been busy, busy for us!! But it's been a good busy!! As earlier posted we have been finally working on the house! Last summer was the patio, this week we will officially finish the tile, and then move onto a list of other fun projects! Hopefully not quite as time consuming! Here are the before and almost after pics!We had plenty of time stuck inside to work as the dry winter we had is just showing up late! Tanner had no complaints and has found a new joy in the patio, gives him plenty of space to rub his face in all the snow he wants!! I'm biased, I know, but he is so cute!!
We spent a nice Easter at my parents, grandma was able to make it down and we all had fun watching Cole hunting Easter eggs! And enjoying everything out of his easter basket!
But can someone tell me when he went from being this...
To this...Is that even the same kid!!!???!!!

Tales of a not-so-housewife!

I have had a few years practice on this whole housewife thing now, but even after that, I just have to appreciate Scott's patience. The last two weeks we have been working on putting in tile at the house (which looks great, and is almost done!), so we have been a little out of sorts with late nights and a cluttered house. But that is no excuse from my two extremely not-so-housewife moments!!!

The first was on a Saturday night, the day we first started the tile. We worked all day pulling up carpet, and prepping the floor, and laying subfloor. When we were close to done Scott got some ribs cooking in the oven. Our neighbor has been helping us with the tile so we all sat down to eat and watch a movie. Waking up to a dirty kitchen is one of my pet peeves so I had to get the dishes done and kitchen clean before heading to bed. Now I can say that the glass or two of wine I had while eating dinner is my excuse for what happened, but really it's just me. Not thinking of what was floating at the bottom of the pan of ribs I poured it all down the drain. So yes, the next day when I got to work on dishes from that day, we ran into a bit of a disaster. That nasty floating stuff on the bottom of the pan was in fact grease! So Scott had to empty the drain and clean out the grease, but not before water soaked our kitchen and us! Needless to say he wasn't too pleased at the time, but I caught him joking about it a few days later!

I proved myself again last night. He was working on cleaning the tile to seal it while I got dinner started. I was following dinner to a T, safely staying within the directions. However, again, my lack of knowledge in the kitchen flared it's ugly head as I went to pour the frozen veggies into a pan with hot oil! Thankfully I was smart enough to stop before the kitchen erupted in flames and the only damage was a little smoke and splattered oil. Scott patiently took the spoon and veggies away from me and finished the dinner.

So there are things I am learning everyday about my housewife life. I don't know if I was absent the day they taught these in school, or too busy playing when my parents were doing the teaching. Either way I'm pretty lucky Scott has the patience to deal with it, and at least I can make him laugh, even if it is at my own expense! :-)
