Mackey's in Town!!
All five Mackey's (yes I'm including the dogs) made a trip to Colorado the first weekend of September. We had a BBQ for all the friends so that everyone could meet Rowan in one day. We had LOTS of babies waiting their turn to meet her (ok so maybe they didn't care so much), but their parents did!

We had such a great visit and they always come too far apart! And we are so happy to have a little girl in the mix now!! 
Ernest and Jennette couldn't make it to the bbq but we had them over for the Bronco game the following weekend. Colbie and Rowan got to meet eachother, I don't think they cared much! But they are so cute!

The boys came down one night to pick me up from a bachlorette party and of course we had to introduce Mack to Casselman's!
Colbie in her Air Force blue for the big Air Force, BYU game! Mack's 10 year reunion was that same weekend so his band was playing at the tailgate! It was so fun to see him play!
We had such a great week visiting with our new niece and of course Sara and Mack! Can't wait to see them again!

Rawah Backpacking Trip
For our vacation this year we decided to stay at home in the state of Colorado. And we were not disappointed. Scott had taken a backpacking trip to the Rawah's when he was in High School and had talked about it since, so he decided it was time to show me! We started the trip at the Rawah Guest Ranch and had an amazing time! The cabins were cozy and the lodge was amazing. Food was incredible and we really couldn't have asked for a better time...

The fish we didn't get a chance to catch, although we would have wanted more of a challenge, these guys were kept fat and happy by the staff.

Scott always has his own way of making friends.
Our first night there a group of cowboys, a few from Kansas, and a few from Wyoming stayed at the lodge. We had a great time relaxing and listening to their stories. 
It was a full guest ranch so we got a chance to go on a quick trail ride our first day there. Scott had his horse Amigo, I rode Josie.

We may have cheated a little...rode in on horseback, and had Jack the mule carry our bags.
We took horseback in about 10 miles to Rawah Lake #2 where we camped. It was incredible to be so far away from civilization and the views were so beautiful! Catching fish was a blast, and they were much more colorful than the lake fish I am used to.
We took a quick hike up to Rawah Lake #3, but didn't have much luck with the fishing. But the views didn't let us down there either.
We camped near the friends we had made at the lodge so we had one more evening of campfire stories with them.

The fog and soggy weather thankfully waited to roll in until the morning we were leaving. We were all a little tired at this point, who knew sleeping on a 1 inch pad could be so tough. But it was so worth it! And at least we only had to hike mostly downhill...

A few miles later we ran into this curious girl. First moose I've ever had that didn't seem to be afraid of us. Scott finally had to shoot off a round to try to scare her back, but that didn't seem to affect her much.

Overall it was another fantastic trip! A little roughing it, mixed in with a little luxury! I did things on this trip I never would have guessed I could have, and being with Scott and Dad made it even more special!

Amazing miracle of life!
It's incredible how amazing life can be! Both Sara and Justin as well as Ernest and Jennette both welcomed their beautiful baby girls into this world on the same day within a few hours!
Jennette went into the hospital on the 29th to be induced, while Sara's water ended up breaking later that night. While Jennette's labor seemed it would last for days, Sara's went quick but at about noon the doctors realized she needed to have a C-section. 
Our beautiful niece, Rowan Lee Mackey, entered this world on July 30th, 2010 at 12:44 pm. She was 7 pounds 13 ounces with a full head of long, dark hair! 
A few short hours later, at 4:29, our equally beautiful goddaughter, Colbie Carmelita, joined her parents. She was 6 pounds 11 ounces, and 20 inches long. She is also rockin' the dark hair! 
It was a fun day to have both these little girls arrive! And it definitely makes it easier on us! Only one birthday to remember for two special little girls! Can't wait to meet Rowan, but glad we have Colbie here to love on until then!

Scott and I joined Robin, Craig, dad and the boys for a quick camping trip for the weekend. Mom decided to stay back in case Sara was ready to have baby girl Mackey. We have been to this spot a few times and are never disappointed, and this trip was no exception!
Right when we got there we decided to try a hike that Craig knew about. However, making a three mile hike with five kids (the Eisenreich's neighbors joined us with their 3 kids) may have been a little optimistic. We only made it up one mile, but still had a good time.

Robin and Davis, he was such a good little hiker! But I guess I would be too if I got carried the whole way!
The moose are amazing up there. We always see at least a few, and this year we saw a few big bulls. 
Cole is having success with potty-training, and in the woods it was going even better! He definitely isn't shy about it! 
We had a fun time watching the kids catch fish, and Cole loved watching Papa out on his belly boat.
The sunset was amazing! So we took the time for a photo-op!
Late on Saturday a few more of Robin and Craig's friends joined us. Scott and I always have fun with Craig and Gillian and it was great catching up with them! 
So another great camping trip for our summer! Now we only have a few weeks until our backpacking trip! And that will definitely be a once in a lifetime experience! At least for me! :)

...or so we tried. By escaping to Estes Park for a quick weekend getaway. Unfortunately, Estes was just a few degrees cooler than Denver, but we did have a good time despite the heat. We took a short drive through the park as well as a walk to the Holzwarth Ranch, the old Ranch that was a park of RMNP. We saw this bull elk on the way out of the park.

But I think Ernest and Jennette pulled off the prego pics much better! We are so excited for them and are so anxious to meet their little girl!!
After the drive up and stopping to get some maternity pics done for Ernest and Jennette, we did a little shopping and ate lunch at the Brewery. Because of the heat we just wanted to relax and enjoy the company, so we headed back to the hotel and just relaxed by the river. 
It was a quick trip, but very relaxing and gave us all a great chance to spend time together and laugh a lot! Can't really beat that!!
